Hi, I’m Sam Adams

I began playing the guitar when I was ten. At that time I was mostly interested in Bluegrass. In my teens I was into rock and roll.

I was awarded a full music scholarship to USC to study classical music and play in the symphony on my other instrument, the acoustic bass. During college I fell in love with Brazilian music and became obsessed with Bossa Nova. After attending USC I received a BA in Spanish and Portuguese from San Diego State University. I was given a full scholarship to The Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara in 1988.

Over my career I’ve had the honor and pleasure of performing with Slash, Lenny Kravitz (see video Always on the Run), Itzhak Pearlman, Pepe Romero and others.

I specialize in Flamenco, Classical, Spanish and Brazilian guitar styles. I’ve performed at over 1000 weddings.

I’ve lived, worked and performed in Spain, Costa Rica and Brazil and I’m completely fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

I’m based in Santa Barbara, but I play weddings and events all over Southern California, including Ventura, Ojai, Los Angeles, Montecito, and The Santa Ynez Valley.
