Profile

I began playing the guitar when I was ten. At that time I was mostly interested in Bluegrass. In my teens I was into rock and roll. I played briefly with Suicidal Tendencies and also with Lenny Kravitz, appearing in Kravitz’s video, “Always On The Run.”
I was awarded a full music scholarship to USC to study classical music and play in the symphony on my other instrument, the acoustic bass. During college I fell in love with Brazilian music and became obsessed with Bossa Nova. After attending USC I received a BA in Spanish and Portuguese from San Diego State University. I was given a full scholarship to The Music Adademy of the West in Santa Barbara in 1988 & 1989.

I have lived, performed and toured in France, Spain, Central America and Brazil. During my career I have performed with such notable artists as Itzhak Perlman, Janos Starker, Nico Abondolo, Luis Munoz, Glenn Canin, Slash, Lenny Kravitz, and others.

Locally I have performed at The Arlington Theatre, The Lobero and at The Santa Barbara Bowl. I have also performed at The Wilshire Theatre, The Wiltern, The Santa Monica Civic and at Lincoln Center in New York.
